Perhaps because of its New York location, the annual Kips Bay Showhouse attracts some of the country's best designers, generating loads of money for local Boys and Girls Clubs and an equal amount of high-powered publicity. It's become an event that any furniture fanatic would love to attend. Your Home Magazine offers a glimpse into the May 2000 Kips Bay house, along with comments about his own room from Boston designer Charles Spada, who transformed a dark, awkward wine cellar into an exciting sitting room/private refuge. While it's a necessarily incomplete account, we're sure you'll enjoy "Touring a Dream Designer Showhouse" and its take on a glorious 28-year tradition. Getting closer to reality, "Your Home, Your Way" considers two handsome rooms with Modern furnishings and tons of potential for personalizing. It's a helpful look at accessorizing to reflect your taste and lifestyle, using well-designed furniture as a foundation.
We also continue our series on color with "Seeing Red." Perhaps more than any other color, red telegraphs strong emotions, both positive and negative. But its infinite shadings from petal pink to deep burgundy also provide opportunities to enliven and warm your home. Even if you've been shy of the color up to now, we urge you to give red a chance and click here to read all about it. While you're into the color thing, you might also want to check out "Purple Passion," "Serene and Opulent Green," "Color Theory" and "Crazy for Color" all part of our continuing series on using and understanding color. Don't forget to check the directory at left for current features and our archives for earlier stories, like our popular takes on Feng Shui and "His Meet Hers" home decorating.
